Major Crimes

The Major Crimes Unit is responsible for conducting thorough, follow-up investigations into felony and serious misdemeanor offenses occurring within the city. Detectives work to identify suspects, collect and analyze evidence, conduct interviews, and prepare cases for prosecution in coordination with the prosecuting attorney’s office.

This unit investigates crimes including violent offenses, property crimes, crimes against persons, and other complex cases requiring specialized investigative techniques. Detectives work closely with Patrol officers, the Street Crimes Unit, and the Drug Task Force to ensure continuity from initial response through case resolution.

Through detailed investigative work and professional case management, the Major Crimes Unit plays a critical role in holding offenders accountable and supporting victims of crime.
